Ever been so fed up of looking for THAT car you want you almost give up? Well I have/was. I'd be browsing for a decent Civic for what felt like eternity. EG or EK i wasn't fussy just had to either be red, black or white and have a B16 engine of some variety.
I started off looking at 3 EG's after countless hours of browsing to actually find ones that weren't being sold by idiots or massively over priced. The first one I saw seemed as if it had been thrown together using about 10 different cars and a simpleton on his driveway. The second rotten beyond belief and the thrid well I was convinced this was the one. The price was right, the description sounded perfect and on arrival well lets just say I hadn't felt so let down since Gareth Southgate's penalty was saved back in 96'.
I gave up on finding a decent EG there and then I knew it wasn't going to happen. I moved on to trying to find an EK and then a local lad with a pretty sweet one decided he fancied selling up. I viewed the car and I liked it alot BUT it has a rusty rear arch and after alot of weighing up my options I knew I couldn't risk the heartache of bad bodyshop jobs so the search went on. Viewed several more, standard, modded but all UK cars. Then it dawned on me, could I actually insure an import Type R? A quick call to the good lads at HIC confirmed the worst, it was fully affordable! So I started the hunt, I'd been looking at them but not properly and I knew they were expensive but some of them were fetching megabucks. Then I came across one that seemed a fair price and was fresh into the country I headed off to look at it but it wasn't quite right for me. A week later and the very same importer rang me back. "I've just picked up another one, I think you'll like it!" Guess what I did, after a very thorough once over of the car which involved it up on ramps so I could check underneath properly and a 15 minute test drive I made the offer and we came to an agreement which included a new cambelt, repaired seatbolster, Buddyclub exhaust system and Spoon carbon mirrors.

I'm over the moon with it I really am. It didn't come as clean as it looks in the pictures though, after collecting it Friday night I spent 10 hours on the saturday detailing it. I felt like such a nerd but damn it was worth it! Anyway I've already been spending bucks on it, Regal Autosport 3 point harness's ordered, wheels might just have been purchased already and waiting on the coilovers I'm after coming back into stock. Be prepared this should get interesting, I hope anyway!
