Turns out, meeting a tree root on the A45 at 50 is even too much for a double skinned 4mm plated aluminium sump......

but that picture is exactly 142 miles away from where my new steel sump lay.
time to top up and race back, hoping to high heaven it didnt take another knock. The pan holding together by a string of atoms only.....

But make it back it did, surviving one or two cats eye bumps and an almightly crash down the industrial estate road... my brother and i set about swapping out to a homebrew 'deathproof' 12v sump, making a mess of the roads and workshop floor in the process.

with everything washed down, we stepped to it - making a plate to blank the gearbox off and prepping the new sump for plating.

Angle iron x skid strips x 2mm plate should do it

I would really really not like to be the floor right now....

its taken some considerable abuse already and knocked a cats eye into submission. also handy for ploughing fields at thruxton... the whole underside is now caked after having to park in a field for the carrera cup
Lets see how long this one lasts.
